I started Sister in the Sun at the beginning of 2006 because I became tired of lugging so many things for my children to change into after their various swimming activities and then carting wet clothes/towels home again. The natural solution was to make one garment that did the lot, hence the towelling dress.

The dresses and hoodies are made from a lightweight stretch towelling which is easy to go over the head, but not too hot to wear all day on the beach. They are also great protection against the sun for young skin. I have also taken the fabric and had it tested and rated Ultraviolet Protection Factor 50+ which is the highest rating for clothing against the sun, so ethical as well as practical
